Course summary

The programme provides deeper insight into the behaviour and welfare of a range of companion animal species and application of theory to improve problem behaviours. It is designed to prepare you for a career in the management of companion animal behaviour predominantly, however in year 1 of the course students can explore content relating to other animal species. As many people working in the companion animal industry are business owners, this is incorporated into the course. PROGRAMME MODULES Year 1: (30 credits each) → Animal Behaviour → Animal Health, Welfare and Nutrition → Practical Projects, Enrichment and Training → Professional Development in the Work Environment Year 2: (30 credits each) → Problem Behaviour Management → Business Management → Research Methods → Professional Development in the Work Environment 2 CAREERS You could work in the field of canine and feline behaviour and/or training, or set up your own business to offer services such as dog walking, pet sitting or animal behaviour services.
