Information technology (IT) is an integral part of our lives. The skills developed on this degree are highly sought after by employers and will build a strong foundation for working in industry. You explore the complex body of knowledge relating to computer science at the current boundaries of research and development. You develop skills in project management, problem solving, rapid systems development, using specialist tools, working closely with users, and professional ethics and legal issues within IT. Successful students will merit relevant exemption from British Computer Society (BCS) professional examinations. Top reasons to study this course 1. Industry links: work on live industry briefs, competitions and hackathons with companies including Cisco, Cubic Transportation Systems, Sage, TUI, Atombank, HMRC and Waterstons. 2. Career-ready: our ExpoSeries of events allow you to showcase your skills to industry professionals who are seeking to recruit new and rising talent. 4. State-of-the-art facilities: learn in industry-standard computing labs with specialist equipment used to undertake development projects and build innovative prototypes. 5. Professional accreditation: This degree has been accredited by BCS (British Computer Society), The Chartered Institute for IT. Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by BCS. An accredited degree entitles you to professional membership of BCS, which is an important part of the criteria for achieving Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status through the Institute. After the course: The combination of academic study and intensive practical work will prepare you for a variety of specialist roles in user support, systems analysis and systems development.
