As a leading provider of midwifery education in the south west, we’ve created a blended learning BSc(Hons) Midwifery course aimed at those who need more flexible ways to study when training to become a midwife. With 80% of the theory for the course delivered online, you can study flexibly. Plus you’ll get plenty of practice in the real world too, and while on placement you’ll work the full range of shift patterns just like a midwife would. With close input from practice partners and maternity service users, our blended learning midwifery degree offers an authentic learning experience and gives you the grounding you need to practise midwifery confidently, compassionately and to the highest standard. On our degree, you’ll consolidate your understanding of the midwife's role and learn about best practice. Plus you’ll develop the critical thinking and leadership skills to evaluate evidence to move midwifery forward. You’ll learn from experienced, enthusiastic academics and from subject experts, all of whom have practised as midwives themselves.

Health checks
You must be in good health and up-to-date with all routine immunisations that are required for working in health and social care settings. If you are offered a place on this course, you will be required to complete a questionnaire and must be prepared to undergo a medical examination. You will also be required to confirm your status in respect of a number of infectious diseases (tuberculosis, measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, varicella, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV antibodies) and be prepared to have all required vaccinations. Please note that the list of required vaccinations may change, in response to advice from the Department of Health. If your vaccinations are not up-to-date, this will affect your ability to continue on your course. If you have any concerns with regards to vaccinations please raise this at the point of application.
