Course summary

The MSc in Healthcare Management combines a comprehensive grounding in the functions of management with their application in a healthcare context. The course features core management modules covering areas such as leadership, strategy, organisational behaviour and accounting together with skills vital to healthcare managers around managing clinical professionals and quality and safety. This degree will equip you with the skills to critically evaluate the published literature on healthcare management and to synthesise the range of issues and perspectives which inform research and practice in the field. It will also develop your practical transferable skills including the ability to conduct independent research. You will have the opportunity to develop the expertise and knowledge to manage competently, capably and ethically. The course has been designed to meet the needs of those wishing to take-up or prepare themselves for a management role in the NHS or healthcare. This postgraduate qualification can also be taken by students studying for an undergraduate medical degree as an intercalated MSc (iMSc).


Entry requirements

A medical degree or a degree in a closely related subject at 2.1 or above from a recognised institution. Intercalating medical students: you will need to be in the 9th decile or above of your degree. IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.
