The University of Chichester Conservatoire has one of the largest and liveliest music departments in the UK with a community of over 400 student performers. Our facilities include computerised recording and media studios, well equipped practice rooms and an acoustically superb performance venue. Matching a focus on either performance or composition with a dedicated training in music leadership skills, this route includes progressive development of improvisation work, study of community music and community music outreach experience, as well as an introduction to music therapy and world music.

The University welcomes mature applicants who may not have the standard entry requirements listed here. As an alternative, a 'non-standard entry portfolio' may be set for the applicant to complete in order to demonstrate their readiness for higher education.
Additional entry requirements
Candidates will be required to demonstrate, in a performance audition, ability in an instrument or voice and display musical awareness and skill. Applicants with high levels of performance skills may be considered for a lower academic offer.
English language requirements
The standard entry requirement for this programme is IELTS 6.0 with no element lower than 5.5. However, you can begin your 3-year degree programme with IELTS 5.5. Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject. If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
