Course summary

The foundation year of this Coventry University degree will be delivered from our CU Coventry campus. Course delivery from year 1 of the degree onwards will be from Coventry University campus. This course aims to provide you with a solid grounding for a career in real estate and property management. The foundation year will introduce you to the world of business with a sharp focus on aspects of management, business communications and marketing in a global context. The foundation year creates opportunities for students to develop key business skills and to put theory, both traditional and contemporary, into practice with real-world scenarios. Students who successfully complete their foundation year will then progress onto the Real Estate and Property Management BSc (Hons) degree within Coventry University’s School of Energy, Construction and Environment. The degree aims to inspire students, aspiring entrepreneurs and future consultants in one of the largest business sectors of the world. The paradigm shift in commercial properties coupled with the urban migration driven housing sector challenges offers a lucrative career option in the provision of land and accommodation. Modules

The foundation year will introduce you to the world of business with a sharp focus on aspects of management, business communications and marketing in a global context. The foundation year creates opportunities for students to develop key business skills and to put theory, both traditional and contemporary, into practice with real-world scenarios. The common first year enables you to work alongside students doing similar courses to you, to widen your knowledge and exposure to other subject areas and professions. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students, so you can share your insights and experience which will help you to develop and learn. If you discover an interest in a specific subject you have studied, upon successful completion of your first year, you could swap degrees with another course in your common first year (subject to meeting progression requirements). Modules Materials and Building Surveying Construction Technology and Environmental Sciences Spatial Design and Visual Communication Professional Skills Development Project and Cost Management Sustainable Environments Year Two The second year is when you develop a deeper understanding of Real Estate Development and Investment besides advanced practice of law for Landlord and Tenancy – where you represent either the Landlord or Tenant in a dispute case in our moot court as part of your assessment. You will further gain a good grasp of Urban Design and Planning within the context of development and investment in urban locations. Modules Law for Built Environment Professionals Real Estate Economics and Financial Accounting Urban Design for Resilient Communities Real Estate Development and Investment Adaptation Design and Building Pathology Sustainable Environments in Society: Developing Solutions Placement Year There’s no better way to find out what you love doing than trying it out for yourself, which is why a work placement* can often be beneficial. Work placements usually occur between your second and final year of study. They’re a great way to help you explore your potential career path and gain valuable work experience, whilst developing transferable skills for the future. If you choose to do a work placement year, you will pay a reduced tuition fee of £1,250*. For more information, please go to the fees and funding section. During this time, you will receive guidance from your employer or partner institution, along with your assigned academic mentor who will ensure you have the support you need to complete your placement. Final Year Year three aims to bring you to the level to enter the world of work by consolidating your knowledge and skills from previous years. This course with foundation year is not currently available to international students.
