Course summary
TEF Silver
University of Bradford has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
This programme is only available to international students. Home students should apply for the Foundation Year - Y006. This integrated programme is a 1 plus 3 which offers a pre-degree access year before progression onto LLB Law. It is designed to help international students develop the advanced English language, academic literacy, study and critical thinking skills required at a higher level of study at university. It will also offer the necessary broader subject related knowledge and skills and enable students to communicate and study effectively at undergraduate level. Students will study a combination of compulsory and optional modules, tailored specifically to supporting student progression onto LLB Law. Some of the indicative content and themes of this course will cover topics such as Introduction to Law, Academic and English Skills, Critical Thinking and a wide variety of Social Science modules which will help students to explore subjects such as human resource management, culture, literature and society, psychology, philosophy and criminology. Module content is also specifically designed to help students negotiate culture shock and adjustments to U.K. university life more generally. A 1 plus 3 delivery enables students to connect with the academic staff and have a better-informed understanding of how university and academic life functions, allowing for a smoother transition to undergraduate degree programs without interruption. Current staff have the appropriate skills needed when teaching and supporting a diverse cohort of students from different cultures and backgrounds.
