YEAR 1 (FOUNDATION YEAR) Students will be introduced to the basic concepts in finance, which will equip you for further studies. You will gain knowledge of the rules of numeracy in the business context and use methods to solve business problems. Through an introduction to business you will investigate the business functions of HR, Marketing and Accounting and Finance with an opportunity to explore the different elements of a business, including structures, and different types of ownership. As part of our commitment to preparing our graduates for the professional workplace, we recognise the need to provide a variety of assessment methods that retain academic rigour, but also offer students opportunities to develop themselves in a variety of ways. Consequently, across most modules students will be assessed by methods such as traditional examination, oral examination, case study evaluation, presentations, blog writing and management report writing.
