Our Aesthetic Practitioner top-up degree course builds on your existing knowledge and skills for practising a wide range of non-medical procedures, offering you a gateway to a range of reputable and lucrative careers in this rapidly expanding sector. Designed for anyone who has previously studied a relevant subject (up to Level 5) or with substantial industry experience, this aesthetics top-up course will help you further develop the specialist knowledge and skills needed for a variety of industry roles. The course covers a range of non-medical procedures within cosmetology, hair removal and skin rejuvenation, as well as advanced electrical face and body technologies. Working with real clients in our state-of-the-art Aspire Aesthetics clinic at University College Birmingham, you will gain valuable hands-on experience using the latest equipment, procedures and techniques. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Mesoestetic production facility in Spain, as well as the chance to engage with industry experts. WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?

FACILITIES Our Aesthetic Practitioner course lets you get hands-on with real paying clients working in our Aspire Aesthetics clinic on campus, enabling you to put your training into practice using the latest technology and equipment. Aspire Aesthetics offers a clinical environment using the latest UV and ultrasonic sterilisation technology, with three clinically-controlled laser rooms and three consultation rooms where comprehensive client management software is used. The clinic also features cutting-edge technology including Motus AY and Lumina lasers, Observ 520 and a range of multi-platform, non-surgical and non-invasive face and body equipment, while we use a variety of cosmeceutical product ranges and treatments from leading brands such as Mesoestetic. Assessment method

  • Large group teaching – 4-6 hours
  • Smaller group teaching – 2-3 hours
  • Hands-on learning in the clinic – 4-6 hours
  • Tutorials – 2-3 hours
You will also need to commit around 20 hours per week for individual study time. ASSESSMENT Estimated breakdown of assessment for this degree course:

The International Admissions team aim to respond to any new application made directly via the online application form within 5 working days of receipt. However, this can vary during peak application periods (particularly January-March) or if the team require additional information to process your application. Applicants who apply to transfer to University College Birmingham on to a second year or final year of a course will have their previous course matched for entry. Each application is considered individually and careful consideration is given to all information on your application form. We may also need to contact you regarding your immigration status or previous studies in the UK.

Additional fee information

UK: If you are a UK student enrolling on a Foundation Degree or a BA/BSc at University College Birmingham in 2021/22, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. A half year tuition fee is £4625. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s permitted rise). If you are an English student studying your first higher education qualification, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company. You will not start repaying this loan until you leave the course and are earning over £25,000 a year. If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you should apply to Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or SAAS. The loans and grants available to you will differ from those available from Student Finance England. UCB does not charge for 24 or 48 week placements.
