Course summary
Our Foundation Degree programme aims to equip you with the tools to become a successful practitioner by emphasising the importance of critical reflection and work-based experience. Studied part-time over three years, the Foundation Degree aims to give you a firm grounding in children's and young people's services. For the duration of the course, students must be working for a least 16 hours per week within the sector, this can be paid or voluntary. The Foundation Degree in Children & Young People fall into two pathways:
- Early Years Pathway ( Part Time)
- Teaching Assistant Pathway (Part Time )
- Study a course that provides you with the essential skills and experience to enhance your employability or prepare you for further study.
- Study in a supportive environment, with a range of services at your fingertips to help you reach your full potential.
- Be a full member of Loughborough Students Union- consistently voted No.1 for student experience.
Modules
Year 1 modules: Starting to Study, Early years provision and practice or Supporting Teaching and Learning, Work Based Reflective Practice (1) & Equality and Diveristy Year 2 modules: Integrated Services, Children and Young People Communicating, understanding Behavior & work Based Reflective Practice (2) Year 3 modules: Working with Parents and Carers, Research Methods and Practice, Children's Young People and Families Rights & Secondary Research.
Assessment method
The programme uses a variety of assessment techniques to ensure that you can demonstrate the range of learning outcomes. Subject knowledge and understanding is assessed through examinations, coursework essays, coursework reports, individual or group presentations, written evaluations, debates and posters will be used as other forms of assessment. These also assess a range of transferable skills, including confidence in academic written communication

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - PPP

T Level - P
A relevant Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification At least one year of experience working within the sector (the placement element of some relevant Level 3 qualifications does qualify) For the duration of the course students must be working for at least 16 hours per week within the sector (this can be paid or voluntary) We welcome applications from mature students over the age of 21 and may be flexible in our normal offer if you show a commitment to succeed and have the relevant skills and experience of working within the industry.
