Please note that Combined Honours degrees at Liverpool Hope University are split 50/50. This means both subjects will be studied equally. Conservation Biology Conservation biology is concerned with the protection and management of nature and the Earth’s biodiversity. It involves an evaluation of human and other factors that affect all living organisms with the aim of protecting and conserving species, their habitats and ecosystems. It is an interdisciplinary subject that draws on natural sciences to devise satisfactory processes and approaches by which to sustain and protect plant and animal biodiversity in the UK and abroad. This course mainly focuses on conservation in terrestrial environments. It develops knowledge of key areas such as the principles and practices of ecology, habitat management, nature conservation and the functioning of natural systems, particularly with regard to different points of view including scientific, ethical and philosophical perspectives. Opportunities are provided to apply knowledge and understanding of conservation biology during field courses within the UK and abroad giving first-hand experience of a range of ecosystems. Psychology We provide a number of programmes of study in Psychology. We have three Single Major Undergraduate programmes. These are BSc Psychology, BA Psychology & Education, and BSc Sports Psychology. In addition, we offer 25 Double Major programs*. Double Majors allow students to combine a core curriculum on Psychology with the core curriculum of a second subject. Giving students a choice over what they study is important to us. Choice of programmes allows students to study a course that reflects their prior interests, lived experience, or future goals. Ethical practice and working within a shared set of values is also important to us; our University is deeply committed to serving the common good. We see Psychology as a discipline with the capacity, and responsibility, to make a positive contribution to how people live in everyday life. Through our teaching of Psychology, we strive to enable our students to grow into constructive citizens who are curious about people, and motivated to make a positive difference to the lives of others. Beyond classroom learning, there are opportunities to enrich your chosen programme of study in a way that will help you in developing your psychological thinking. They include going on a placement, working as a research assistant in a laboratory, travelling to another country as part of Global Hope, or under the Erasmus study abroad scheme.
