Course summary
The most popular team and individual sports played outside today involve the use of turf or grass surfaces. These include golf, football, rugby, cricket, bowls and horseracing. The Sportsturf courses at Myerscough College are ideal for those who are passionate about sport and would like to work outdoors. Our courses offer an excellent platform to a career in sportsturf with superb employment prospects.
Modules
Year 1 - Academic and Professional Skills; Essential Plant and Soil Science; Principles and Practices of Turfgrass Management (double module); Turfgrass Growth and Development; Performance Management of Sportsturf Surfaces. Year 2 - Research Methods; Environmental Plant Physiology; Industry Project; Integrated Pest Management; Environmental Management and Sustainability; Sportsturf Surface Construction and Drainage Systems. Year 3 -.Rootzone Technology; Research Project (double module); Greenspace Professional Practice; Biotechnology for Plant Improvement; Sports Facility Design and Development.

Normally 5 GCSEs Including Maths and English (or equivalents) are required, however, applicants are advised to check with the University Centre if they do not possess the specific qualifications. The University Centre may consider applicants with work experience within a relevant industry in place of some qualifications. Applicants who believe they may be eligible for Accreditation of Prior Certificated and/or Experiential Learning (APCL/APEL) will be considered on an individual basis.
