Course summary
This BA (Hons) Music with Musical Theatre degree gives you the opportunity to train in musical theatre dance, singing and stage acting. You will focus your studies to reflect your strengths as you develop your specialist practical skills in vocal or instrumental performance in one of the largest music departments in the UK. The University of Chichester Conservatoire has one of the largest and liveliest music and musical theatre departments in the UK with a community of over 400 student performers. Our facilities include computerised recording and media studios, well equipped practice rooms and an acoustically superb performance venue. You will get to showcase public performances with professional production teams for regional tours, major art festivals and to create and premiere new commissions. This three-year programme is designed for vocalists and offers broader musical training with a specialism in Musical Theatre. You’ll be involved in community outreach in year one, production work in year two and devising musical theatre work in year three. What’s more, you’ll experience individual vocal lessons, ensemble and the study of different Musical Theatre styles. If you’re performance focused, you’ve the option to take dance and acting classes. Where as those choosing the composition route within the degree can centre Music with Musical Theatre. Performance projects range from large scale musical theatre with full pit orchestra set and costume to straight plays, smaller ensemble projects and dance revues. You can also develop skills in technical theatre and arts management roles by supporting performance projects.

You will be assessed by a variety of methods including essays, portfolios, examinations, performances and practical work, project work, presentations and seminar discussions
