Course summary

This course introduces you to the fundamentals of filmmaking, acting and screenwriting practice. It will help the development of your creative, critical and craft skills in preparation for progression to the 1st year of the BA (Hons) Acting for Screen fast-track degree at Central Film School. Programme Overview

  • Foundation Year followed by two-year accelerated degree
  • Small class sizes and specialist seminar groups
  • Taught by working industry professionals allowing students to receive training to industry standard from people who have up-to-date knowledge.
  • Learn about filmmaking from the perspective of the director, producer and writer and all key crew roles.
  • Access to equipment and facilities outside of class time.

Modules

Visual Storytelling, Screen Studies, Acting 1, Acting for Camera, Voice, Action & Motion, Acting 2, Episodic Storytelling, The Professional Actor, Acting 3 - Final Major Project.

Assessment method

Assessment will be a combination of the following: Practical - where live performance and/or the recorded artifact are assessed Written - reflective essays, scripts and portfolios Presentation - these can be in group or individually While the mix of the above assessment types changes from module to module, depending on learning outcomes, students can expect a mix of 70% practical, 15% written and 15% presentation/other.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
