The MMus Chamber Music Performance programme is available over two years, full-time. This course focuses on the development of the essential practical, creative and artistic skills that underpin high-level chamber music performance. Once on the course, students form ensembles that allow them to study the repertoire that best supports their musical and technical development, across a range of styles, genres and combinations and according to their interests. Specialist chamber performance classes, led by experienced chamber musicians, will cover key areas including rehearsal techniques, ensemble sound, listening skills and group communication (verbal and non-verbal). Through their individual principal study tuition, students will continue to develop their instrumental skills, as well as working on chamber music repertoire for their assessments and other performance projects. For more information, please see our website: http://www.rwcmd.ac.uk/music
During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:
Only one instrument is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument formatively, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.
For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.
This course is closed for the 2023 academic cycle. Please contact the provider or view the 2024 courses.
