Whether you want to advance in management positions or start your own company, our Business Enterprise and Entrepreneurship foundation degree will give you the tools you need to succeed. With small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) a major engine of growth for both the UK and wider global economies, this course focuses on the formation and growth of new ventures, managing small businesses and the creation and implementation of small business start-ups. It will give you the skills you need to set up your own enterprise or work effectively in small and early-stage business ventures. Developed in close partnership with industry experts, our course will expand your entrepreneurial mindset, behaviours and competencies as well as enhancing your understanding of core business functions and activities, and how they work together in today’s global digital environment. FACILITIES Our business courses offer students opportunities to develop practical skills in our cutting-edge Financial Trading Suite. One of the largest among all UK universities and the first in the country to be powered by Infront Professional Terminal, the suite features 21 workstations, large wall screens and a scrolling ticker providing real-time global market information. You will also have the chance to develop new skills in our Digital Creative Studio, featuring state-of-the-art video and audio production facilities including a video production studio with 4K cameras and green screen technology, audio podcasting, vision mixing and editing facilities, as well as high-spec computers with Adobe Creative Cloud software and graphics tablets. If you want to set up your own business, our Enterprise Hive provides a wide range of start-up support, including incubation space, tailored mentoring from industry experts and networking opportunities. ACCREDITATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS We are an official partner of the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards and an Enterprise Educators UK Member. PLACEMENTS Our course offers you the option of a paid 48-week work placement, during which you will not incur any tuition fees. Employers we have worked with include BMW (Germany), Grant Thornton (Cambridge), Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa (USA), Bella Italia (Birmingham) and Top Cashback (Stafford). Work-based: We also give equal consideration to applicants who are currently in work and wish to apply to UCB. To apply, you must have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience, demonstrating management or supervisory duties. Your application must also include a reference from your line manager supporting your entry to higher education. For further details please contact Admissions. Students who are studying a mixture of qualifications will receive an offer that will be inclusive of all Level 3 qualifications.

Additional fee information

UK: If you are a UK student enrolling on a Foundation Degree or a BA/BSc at University College Birmingham in 2021/22, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. A half year tuition fee is £4625. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s permitted rise). If you are an English student studying your first higher education qualification, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company. You will not start repaying this loan until you leave the course and are earning over £25,000 a year. If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you should apply to Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or SAAS.
