The course is intended to produce Secondary History teachers who are reflective practitioners and who will be: enthusiastic and confident in the classroom pedagogically skilful and adaptable specialists in the teaching of history aware of how young people learn history able to see their subject in the context of the whole curriculum competent in a number of areas that cross Secondary school curriculum boundaries and see History in the wider context, contributing to pupils' personal, social, moral, spiritual and cultural development able to work as part of a team. The course is designed to ensure you are confident in all basic national curriculum requirements.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Applicants will normally: hold or be expected to gain a minimum 2:1 honours degree have GCSE grade C/grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths.
