Course summary

The Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications in Engineering are aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. They provide a wide-ranging study of the engineering sector and are designed for students who wish to pursue a career in engineering. In addition to the skills, knowledge and techniques that underpin the study of the sector, you will gain experience in the breadth and depth of the sector to prepare you for employment, progression within employment or further study. After successfully completing the Higher National Certificate, you will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the basic concepts of engineering. You will be able to communicate accurately and appropriately and have the qualities of personal responsibility needed for employment. You will also develop a range of transferable skills to ensure effective team working, independent working with growing fault finding and problem-solving strategies, and organisational awareness. You will be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work, showing resilience under pressure and the ability to meet challenging targets within a reasonable, pre-set, timeframe.
