Have you always been interested in building something from the ground up? Would you like to learn the complexities of a construction project? Or maybe you already work in the sector and would like to understand the ‘green economy’ in construction? Our Higher National Certificate will provide you with the knowledge, skills, techniques, and behaviours needed for your career, whilst having a clear focus on sustainability and the environment. You will gain an understanding of the responsibilities needed to be a competent tradesman plus the theoretical knowledge you can apply to real world construction problems
Modules
You will study four core modules: • Science and Materials for construction • Construction sustainability • Individual construction project • Digital Technology for construction Then you will select an additional two modules from the following options: • Construction site management • Construction law and contracts • Construction refurbishment design • Construction technology
Assessment method
The course is assessed by written assignment, practical work and group project work.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
