Course summary

The MEd in Teaching Children with Specific Literacy Difficulties is for students who wish to develop the specialist knowledge and skills required to teach children with dyslexia. Modules

The first three modules must be taken in the order listed below. Modules include: Factors affecting literacy development; informal assessment of literacy difficulties and models of intervention; working with children with literacy difficulties; research methods with psychometrics; case study dissertation with Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association; language and literacy development in children with ASD.

Assessment method

Assessment is through coursework, including written assignments, seminar presentations and a dissertation.


Entry requirements

Applicants will normally hold a relevant 2.2 Honours degree or above in a related discipline and preferably a professional teaching qualification. However, applicants who do not meet the requirements above will be considered on an individual basis, where there is evidence of relevant experience. Applicants may be required to attend an interview to determine their suitability for entry.
