This course enables students who require additional academic and/or English language skills to continue onto the BSc. Medical Sciences or apply for other courses subject to academic achievement in year 1. These alternatives are: undergraduate medicine (MBBS)*, integrated Masters Physician Associate Studies, MPharm (Hons), BSc. Biomedical Sciences, BSc. Dental Hygeine and Dental Therapy. The School of Medicine wishes to increase access to medical education and support the development and sustainability of a regional workforce. In 2019, the MBBS course is open to international students and limited number of UK students and so competition for progression to the MBBS programme is very high. Weighting will be given to UK Widening Participation students wishing to apply for MBBS (see our webpage for further information). Upon completion of Year One you can apply to 5-year UCLan Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) if you satisfy the following criteria: • Expected to achieve a grade of 70% or above on Year 1 of the programme • Will have met or expected to meet all other stated entry requirements for the MBBS Having satisfied these criteria you will be guaranteed an interview and thereafter complete the same highly competitive admissions’ process as all the MBBS applicants. Please note that completion of the programme does not guarantee an automatic progression to either course. 4-year UCLan integrated Masters in Physician Associate Studies if you satisfy the following criteria: • Expected to achieve a grade of 60% or above on Year 1 of the programme • Will have met or expected to meet all other stated entry requirements for the programme 4-year UCLan MPharm if you satisfy the following criteria: • Expected to achieve a grade of 65% or above with 70% in Chemistry and Biology Modules on Year 1 of the programme • Will have met or expected to meet all other stated entry requirements for the programme 3-year UCLan BSc. Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy if you satisfy the following criteria: • Expected to achieve a grade of 65% or above on Year 1 of the programme • Will have met or expected to meet all other stated entry requirements for the programme 3-year UCLan BSc. Biomedical Sciences if you satisfy the following criteria: • Expected to achieve a grade of 60% or above on Year 1 of the programme • Will have met or expected to meet all other stated entry requirements for the programme

IELTS Score of 6.0 with no component mark less than 5.5 (or equivalent qualification) taken within the two years prior to the course start date. If applicants wish to progress to the MBBS course they must have IELTS of 7.0 with no sub-score less than 7.0. IELTS must be taken within two years prior to the course start date.
