Course summary

Course overview Teaching is an extremely rewarding and challenging career. Our course is designed to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills that you need to be an outstanding teacher. We aim to nurture teachers who are passionate about the development of their own and their pupils' learning. Why study this course with us? During the course, you will learn how to encourage young people’s understanding and performance of Drama through your subject specialism. The Subject Enrichment Week for Drama trainees has to date included Amsterdam, Venice, Barcelona, and Prague. Trainees are given the opportunity to work with teachers, performers and academics from schools, theatres and university, as appropriate, during the course of the week. You will be encouraged to consider the historical and cultural context of the theatre and educational drama practice you engage with in comparison to that of the UK. A journal of thoughts and experiences will also be developed during this time. On your return to the UK, trainees have devised group or individual projects, which formed the basis for schemes of work and practical workshops delivered at partnership schools. The course is designed to ensure you are confident in all basic national curriculum requirements.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally: hold or be expected to gain a minimum 2:1 honours degree have GCSE grade C/grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths.
