We are a top 10 university in the UK for Journalism The Guardian University Guide 2025 Our course provides you with a practical and critical understanding of the changing face of journalism and the legal, political and economic aspects of the profession. Our emphasis on employability means that you’ll be taught by professional journalists about everyday life in the industry. And we’ll introduce you to ways of gaining first-hand experiences in journalism – including work placements through our links with various news organisations as well as freelance opportunities. The course provides the opportunity to study at a partner university overseas, or complete a work placement in industry in your third year. We’re committed to producing highly capable graduates with the strongest possible skillset. From the start, we treat you not just as a student, but as a working journalist, challenging you to produce work to industry standard so you can excel in a newsroom environment.
