Course summary

Human factors research focuses on the multidisciplinary research spanning studies of the interaction between humans, machines and technology to develop the products and systems that we use every day. Our three year PhD is based within the Faculty of Engineering enabling you to choose from a wide range of research areas and work across traditional research boundaries being part of interdisciplinary teams. The project can cover many different fields within this discipline, these are just an example of some fields you could consider:

  • design
  • manufacturing
  • assembly
  • measurement
  • testing
  • modelling
As well as our PhD, there is also a two- year MPhil (Master of Philosophy) Human Factors option available.


Entry requirements

2.1 degree (or international equivalent) and/or a Master's at merit level or above in a relevant subject. English language requirements: IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any element).
