These include the Chief Social Workers’ Knowledge and Skills Statements and revised Professional Standards for Social Workers set by Social Work England. – You can create a programme that suits your needs by selecting from a range of modules to build up credits towards a PgCert, Pg Dip or MA. – You will have excellent opportunities to network with experienced practitioners in specialist roles About this course All course modules enable you to apply your learning directly to your practice. You may combine specialist studies with more general learning, such as safeguarding, practice education and management. Our purpose-built Practice Learning Suite is perfect for honing your skills. For the PgCert, you will need to complete 60 credits; for the PgDip, you will need 120 credits; and for the MA, you will need 180 credits, including the final project worth 60 credits. Free-standing modules may be taken as short courses as part of your continuing professional development. Example modules – Safeguarding Adults at Risk – Mentoring and Coaching in Professional Practice – Final Research Project. Career opportunities You will be prepared for roles such as team leader, workforce development manager, service manager and principal social worker. The course also offers a route to further research, scholarship and doctoral studies.

Assessment method

Assessment can include presentations, essays, critical reviews, online quizzes, posters, portfolio of practice, assessed practice, projects and a 'capstone' project that will enable you to produce an account of original research that is suitable for publication in a refereed journal. The approximate percentage for how you will be assessed on this course is as follows, though depends to some extent on the optional modules you choose: 100% coursework

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
