Course summary

This programme has responded to the change in the sector by incorporating new elements of policy and skills and increasing options for students in the rapidly evolving environment of health and social care, and children and young people’s services. The aim is to develop a health and social care workforce that is capable of meeting strategic governmental goals and is prepared for an employment environment of multiple and diverse opportunities. This programme aims to provide you with progressive studies that have relevance to careers in the primary functions of care within the health and social care sector. You will exercise investigative, reflective analytical and reasoning powers in context and be provided with the knowledge and skills to progress onto the degree programme.

Modules

Year One – Level 4 (Cert HE, Dip HE & BSc) Contemporary Challenges: Making a Difference (20 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module) Counselling, Communication, and the Therapeutic Relationship (20 credits; compulsory) Introduction to Public Health and Wellbeing (20 credits; compulsory) Learning in the Digital Era (20 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module) Management, Organisational Behaviour and Digital Change (20 credits; compulsory) Psychology in Health and Social Care (20 credits; compulsory).

Assessment method

Assessments include: essays, exams, reports, presentations, reflective accounts, debates, policy critiques and professional portfolios. You will be asked to utilise information technology communication and organisational skills for your assignments.
