The MMath is an integrated four-year undergraduate masters course that gives you a detailed understanding of a range of mathematics, statistics and operational research topics. You’ll also become adept at using an array of mathematical software, which can be applied to solving problems in the real world. Our areas of study are broad and include pure mathematics, mathematical software, statistics, operational research, financial mathematics, number theory and cryptography, mathematics for computer graphics, numerical methods for solving differential equations, mathematical modelling, dynamical systems and chaos theory. As you progress through your Maths degree you’ll be able to choose from a range of subjects that reflect your interests and career aspirations, culminating in a chance to apply your learning in project work. In the fourth year, you’ll tackle a masters-level project, developing your critical analysis skills as you apply your mathematical knowledge to a major piece of independent work. You’ll also be able to take units to develop your computational skills in our research areas of differential equations and dynamical systems, and computational fluid dynamics. * Choose a placement* – the course offers real flexibility as you will enrol on the four-year course and then decide if a placement is right for you once you have started your studies. You don’t have to decide now. If you opt to undertake a placement your course will normally be five years full-time. FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  • Our excellent facilities include fourteen teaching laboratories equipped with high-specification PCs with specialist, industry-standard software running on either Windows or Linux operating systems.
  • You will make extensive use of mathematical software packages to solve real-world problems - experience which is highly sought after by employers.
