City, University of London has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
The Foundation course provides a pathway to BEng and MEng degree courses in Civil Engineering. The emphasis in the Foundation course is on developing your study skills and ability in mathematics and mechanics. The course also suits mature applicants who need to update their technical knowledge and study skills. If you wish to study Civil Engineering or MEng Structural Engineering at City, University of London, but do not satisfy the entry requirements, the Civil Engineering Foundation course can be the first of a four year BEng (or five year MEng) degree.
The foundation year includes the following key components:

You will be assessed using a variety of methods, depending on module choices: Practice Assessment Document (PAD): used to demonstrate achievement of practice competencies and also to record the number of hours of practice experience Written assignments, including essays: these may take the form of care studies in which you will be expected to relate your essay to a particular service user or as support another assessment such as a poster presentation Written examinations: including short answer questions, multiple choice questions, calculations, scenario based Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCEs): practical skills assessments which enable you to demonstrate particular clinical, communication or teaching skills Dissertation: this final project will enable you to choose a relevant topic of interest to you and demonstrate an in depth knowledge of this. The approximate percentage of the course assessment, based on 2017/18 entry is as follows: 50% written, 50% coursework.
