Have you got a passion for games? Would you like to take your development skills to the next level? The interactive media and games development industries are both rapidly expanding and increasing in use and popularity. From the increased use of development focused around app design and 3D development to the continued popularity of gaming and use of web authoring, courses in interactive media and games development have never been so relevant and in demand. This course will provide you with a broad understanding and knowledge of game and interactive media design along with a range of technical and methodological skills necessary to analyse, design and implement the development of these media. Students often work on live client briefs, either through their own liaison with companies or through projects arranged by the College.
Year one modules include: Asset Creation and Interaction in Games, Interface Design, Video Editing and Post Production Techniques, Introduction to Web Development, Working to a Client Brief and Character Creation, Rigging and Animation. Year two modules include: Game Production and Authoring, Audio Asset Creation for Games, Group Project, Pitch and Development, Application Development and Interactive Media in Practice. Optional level 6 at University of Wolverhampton. Top up BA (Hons) Computer Games Design.
Assessment methods include: written assessments, presentations, projects and practical activities. The Games Design teaching team is made up of experienced vocational staff with several years’ experience of teaching at undergraduate level. All team members have relevant teaching qualifications which arm them with the skills to share their first-hand knowledge and expertise with students.

Applicants who are 21 and over and are currently employed in the industry will also be considered. The College has a commitment to widening participation in Higher Education, and will therefore give careful consideration to prior experiential learning, non-traditional qualifications and qualifications obtained outside of the United Kingdom.

Heart of Worcestershire College is offering HE Boost award of up to £1500 each to all first year full time HE students. The funding will paid in 3 equal instalments at the end of October, January and May. If you are applying for your first year of your first Higher Education course and have “Firmly” accepted an offer of a place on a HE programme at Heart of Worcestershire College as your first choice (not insurance) you may be eligible. To be eligible you must meet the national criteria: • Normally resident in England • Have a household income of less than £25,000 (as assessed through Student Finance England) • Self funding, not sponsored by an employer, the NHS nor the Training and Development Agency for Schools. Please note that due to the limited nature of these funds meeting the criteria does not equate to an entitlement to the Boost awards. Each application will be considered by the panel of senior staff based on the information provided.
