Do you want to develop the essential management skills and experience to launch your business career? Management is at the heart of the skillset needed to succeed in modern business. On this course you’ll cover all the essential functions of management, operations and human resources (HR), developing a wide-ranging knowledge of organisations and their business environment. You’ll learn about the complexities of organisations, understanding their structure and HR management concepts. You’ll explore the fundamentals of accounting, finance and marketing, as well as getting the opportunity to learn about international business and marketing. The programme has been developed in conjunction with employers and offers a well-rounded education in many areas of modern business management. It covers the organisational issues behind modern business, but also the legal, ethical and sustainability issues facing companies. The underlying principle behind the course content is to mirror the modern business environment, giving you the opportunity to solve business problems in real-life case studies. You’ll learn in small groups, developing the confidence to work in project teams to a professional standard. You’ll gain real-world experience through the professional work placements included with your degree. Following your degree, you will graduate with an invaluable combination of in-depth theoretical knowledge and professional experience, preparing you for a successful start to your career in business management. Our experienced staff (many of whom have had management careers prior to academia) will help you hit the ground running from day one of your new career. Professional work placements You’ll complete professional work placements as part of your degree. Recent students have completed placements at a variety of organisations including Arcadia Group, Leeds Playhouse, Bradford City Council and Aviva. Graduate opportunities You’ll graduate with the knowledge, skills and experience to work effectively in a managerial role within a business organisation. Our graduates work in a range of business management roles in diverse industries across the UK and abroad. You’ll also be well-prepared for a management trainee role, or you could continue on to postgraduate study.

Additional fee information

We advise students that there may be additional course costs in addition to annual tuition fees: Recommended and required reading lists will be provided at the start of your course. All the books and e-books are available from our Library to borrow but you may choose to purchase your own. On some courses there may be additional costs, such as field trips, equipment, accreditations, that may be part-funded by the University. More details will be provided at the start of the course. You'll need to include placement/s travel and associated costs too, however the University will contribute a standard amount towards your total expenditure. The University provides students with a £6 printing credit each academic year which can be topped up either on campus or online.
