Course summary

Our BSc in Property Development and Planning will prepare you for a range of careers including:

  • RICS Chartered Surveyor
  • property development
  • and planning consultancy.
You will learn about the policies and processes that bring forward developments that stand the test of time and enhance our built environment. This course has been designed to provide you with a wide-range of subject knowledge, ensuring that you have a well-rounded understanding of the industry. You’ll cover the elements that impact and shape the industry, such as:
  • sustainable development
  • policy, analysis and implementation
  • construction
  • valuation
  • urban design
  • economics and law
  • as well as political, economic and social factors.
We place an emphasis on professional practice. For example, after your second year you will have the opportunity to undertake a work placement year. Through the course you’ll gain practical experience and knowledge of the industry through live projects and site visits. You’ll meet employers at our fairs and events and develop your career with our mentoring scheme.
