Economics and International Relations with Integrated Foundation Year (September Start)

Course summary

The recent pandemic has shown that the global economy is made up of interconnected countries and their structures and economic policies. The programme is designed to provide students with a strong grounding in the disciplines of Economics and International Relations, including micro and macro economics, labour and development economics, international political economy, globalisation, international public policy, comparative politics and regional studies, international security and international relations theory. The programme is designed to provide students with a grounding in all of these central issues (especially at levels 4 and 5), but at the same time provide sufficient flexibility to specialise in particular themes, topics and areas if they so wish (especially at level 6, but also to some degree at level 5). This degree will help students develop a strong sense of intellectual integrity, acquire substantial knowledge in the broad fields of Economics and International Relations and apply these skills to wider situations.

Academic Requirements This programme is designed for international students who have completed a good high school education that consists of at least 12 years’ study and includes Mathematics equivalent to GCSE grade 6. For minimum requirements, please refer to details on our website. You are unlikely to be considered if you have completed your education in a system that involves 13 years’ study, for example if you have taken GCSEs and A levels (or BTEC or IB equivalents) in the UK or the Middle Years Programme followed by the IB Diploma in any country. In such cases we recommend that you apply for the relevant three year programme with entry in year 1. We may consider applications from students who have completed A levels or the IB Diploma in the UK or elsewhere where they have transferred from a different secondary school system. For example, a student who is taking A levels in the UK, having previously studied in their home country, may be considered for admission to this degree programme. Each application will be considered individually. English Minimum of IELTS 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
