Course summary

Top up your existing Foundation degree to achieve a Bachelors degree in Creative Fashion and Textiles. You will decide which practical methods you wish to pursue and enhance; using previous knowledge to build a strong portfolio of work taking you in to industry. You will refine the disciplines of fashion and/or textile design along with craftsmanship by designing your own collection of garments, accessories or fabrics. Translate and experiment your 2D and 3D designs, building upon previous skills and honing these to an independent level. Explore innovative and creative workshops in our studios to develop your practice. Tailor this year to suit your creative strengths and build your portfolio towards the industry career you require. You will develop a unique identity that suits your ambitions. You will gain knowledge about ethics in fashion and textiles whilst refining skills, to help build a sustainable industry. Modules may include: • Visual Culture in Practice • Inspiration and Experimentation • Resolution. Professional practice is key to this year, with guest lecturers and industry experts offering feedback towards your final module. You will present to an industry panel and showcase your final module professionally to an industry-led audience. Research is an in-depth enquiry at this level, along with developing your work within a wider industry-standard context. In addition to our annual summer show, we support students to develop entrepreneurial and teamwork skills through fundraising to present design work at high profile national and international events such as New Designers. Visits to trade shows such as Textile Forum London and Premier Vision in Paris have taken learning out of the studio. Teaching and Assessment Teaching is in the form of lectures, seminars, practical workshops and tutorials. You will develop skills in visual and verbal presentation techniques through group and individual project work. Focusing on the avenues that most interest you, through your modules and assessments, you will explore different career paths and graduate with the confidence and skills to succeed. Progression Opportunities Our students go on to work in industry, develop enterprise opportunities or explore further research at postgraduate level. Whatever you want to do, our team of subject experts will support you with your next steps. Many of our graduates go on to successful careers with high profile companies like Alexander McQueen, set up their own businesses, freelance within the industry or move on to postgraduate study

You will be asked to present a portfolio of work at interview. The portfolio must demonstrate your creative skills, subject knowledge and enthusiasm for study through 10 to 15 pieces of recent work and two sketchbooks.
