Course summary
Holders of the BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (Building Services Engineering – Heating pathway) will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their ‘specialist pathway’ of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely. They will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.
Modules
Students will complete the following units on this programme: Group Project, Further Mathematics for Construction, Advanced Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Design & Installation, Building Management Systems, Environmental Assessment & Monitoring, Personal Professional Development, Hydraulics and Group/individual tutorial.
Assessment method
Through written assignments, presentations and laboratory work.

Qualification requirements
All applications will be considered individually however offers will usually be based on: 64 UCAS points (those with 48 UCAS points will be considered for an interview) BTEC Level 3 qualification (2 years) in relevant subject Other related Level 3 qualifications Normally 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (or numeric score of 4/5 under newly reformed GCSE grading), including maths or English An Access to Higher Education Diploma in relevant area Related work experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications
