Glasgow Caledonian University's Master of Public Health aims to prevent disease, promote health, and protect the health and well-being of the public through education, research and public health practice and service. The Master of Public Health has been designed and mapped against the Faculty of Public Health competencies, preparing you for your future career with this globally recognised named exit award. Module list Advanced Research Methods; The Principles and Theory of Public Health Practice; Epidemiology: Principles; Application and Evaluation in Practice; Social Action Approaches in Public Health; Evidence-based Public Health; Applied Statistics and Data Analysis for Public Health; Masters Dissertation. Optional: One module per year based on the cohort preference: Navigating the Policy Context; Infection Prevention and Control in a Global Context; Health Economics

Assessment method

At GCU assessment methods are designed to ensure your learning goes beyond the theory of public health and using real life data and examples, from past and current research students, helps you demonstrate the acquisition of applied and contextualised knowledge. Through the development of a mixed assessment style, including essays and statistical reporting, you are enabled to showcase your understanding of the public health environment and the key competencies required by those working in the industry around the world.


Entry requirements

UK 2:2 honours degree or equivalent within a relevant field, such as but not limited to: Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Allied Health Professions, Microbiology and Chemistry. If you can demonstrate experience or previous learning you will also be considered by submitting a Recognition of Prior Learning Application. Academic IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with no element below 6.0.
