Course summary
Gain the skills to succeed in a fast-moving global economy – and gain valuable real-world experience – with our BSc International Business and Management with Placement Year degree. This flexible course, taught by experts from Henley Business School and the Department of Languages and Cultures, provides you with a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of business management in an international context. As you develop your business understanding, you will explore a foreign language. You can start as a beginner in whatever language you choose – the appropriate level of learning and support will be provided. If you’re at an intermediate level, your learning will be tailored to your level of understanding. You’ll study the core disciplines that underpin business, including economics, psychology, and sociology. You'll explore different areas of international business and learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, practical workshops, and self-guided study. This will provide the opportunity to discuss subject materials in depth with your lecturers and fellow students. In each year of study, you will take one 20-credit module in your chosen language and one 20-credit culture module. In your second and final years, you can tailor your studies to suit your interests and deepen your understanding of your chosen language. 98% of the Department of Languages and Cultures students said our teaching staff were good or very good at explaining things (National Student Survey, 2023). In your third year, you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a real-world setting with our Work Placement module. The Henley Business School is ranked 16th for Business and Management in the Guardian University Guide, 2024, and has triple-accredited status from the UK, European and US accrediting bodies (AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB).
