Application deadline 31 October 2023 Want to produce state-of-the-art sports and live events coverage? In partnership with IMG - This unique Professional Diploma, delivered in partnership with IMG, one of the leading producers of sports programming in the world, teaches you the vital skills required to take on Sports Producer roles with experience and confidence. This is a practical course in which you will learn about all forms of sports production, including creating your own stories and collaborating with students in other specialisms. You will be equipped with the skills required to produce state-of-the-art sports and live events coverage, highlights content and more so you graduate confident in the skills needed to fill these in-demand roles. You will have access to the NFTS’ high quality production facilities including our 4K television studio, complete a four-week work experience placement at IMG Studios and visit other major sports production houses.

Modules

The course philosophy is that you learn by ‘doing’ as well as understanding theory and developing a variety of practical and creative skills. Specific areas taught and practiced are: Sports programming landscape in the UK and worldwide Filming, editing and scripting sports features Developing, pitching and responding to Requests for Information and Proposal (RFI/RFPs) Managing people and being managed Working in teams Introduction to live event coverage Budgeting for sports productions Specialist workshops and exercises Graduation projects

Entry requirements

This course is open to UK applicants and EU/EEA Nationals with UK pre-settled/settled status (subject to meeting residency requirements) and applicants who are currently in the UK on a valid visa for the full duration of the course. You will need a proven interest in sports or live production and an ability to work as part of a team. You’ll be practically- minded and have a good general education, and have an aptitude and passion for editing and/or camera work. While many applicants will have a degree from a British or overseas university, we will consider applicants who do not have a degree if they have an impressive portfolio, a creative track record or an alternative qualification. Additional fee information

Fees are confirmed/updated in June each year for the following intake date. A non-refundable deposit of £500 is required against the cost of your fees on confirmation of your place. The NFTS is committed to ensuring it is open to students of genuine ability, no matter what their background or financial circumstances, which is why we award more scholarships and bursaries to British students, relative to the size of our student body, than almost any other educational institution in the UK.
