Based within our School of Social Sciences, our research programme in psychology has a well-established reputation for innovative and internationally recognised research. We have a lively research environment with regular seminars and conferences and over 20 PhD and DProf students. We have been successful in securing a number of large, externally-funded research grants. Our research covers a broad range of psychology and neuroscience and falls within 5 key themes: Stress, health, and well-being; Learning and development; Brain, cognition, and perception; Identity, self, and society; Forensic and investigative psychology.
Applicants should have a minimum classification of 2.1 in their first degree or equivalent and preferably a master's degree (or masters degree pending). Applicants whose first degree has not been studied in English should have IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all elements. Applicants need to submit a research proposal of 2,000–3,500 words. It should include a title of proposed research, identify discipline and formulate research questions clearly. It should also include proposed research methodology and plan of work and time schedule. References are normally required and if not provided with your application will be requested at a later date.
