Fine Art and Contemporary Arts Practice (Top-up) at SGS (South Gloucestershire and Stroud College) - UCAS

Course summary

BA (Hons) Fine Art and Contemporary Arts Practice (level 6) is a 1-year course based at Bristol School of Art. You will join this course from the Foundation Degree in Fine Art and Design and Materials at Bristol or Stroud School of Art, or with another level 5 qualification in fine art (or other closely relevant subject). You will be able to take advantage of the cultural and artistic opportunities that Bristol has to offer whilst developing your individual fine art practice further. You will experience taught workshops initially, then increasingly independent studio sessions will enable you to develop and extend your practice, working towards an exhibition at the end of the year. You will put your own work in context in terms of contemporary fine art theory and practice by participating in seminars, tutorials and lectures, including those from visiting artists. A professional application for a relevant cultural opportunity (residency or exhibiting call-out) will give you the opportunity to evaluate your identity as an artist. You will write a dissertation after focused critical research into a key question of interest to you, supported by critical study skills sessions and supervisory tutorials. The course is assessed by coursework (professional practice documentation and dissertation) and practical portfolios, including exhibiting resolved work. Part time routes are available.
