The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering (Two Pathways) is a direct top-up from the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering (Two Pathways). This course has been developed to successfully combine theoretical study and practical work to focus on the requirements of industry. The course combines a variety of teaching approaches including lectures, assignment work, programming tasks and lab work. Assessment is by assignment work, which includes calculations, lab work, circuit/system simulations, programming, research and investigations. Students must complete the following eight units: Engineering Design, Electronic Principles, Microprocessor Systems, Combinational and Sequential Logic, Data Communications and Networks, Quality and Business Improvement, Personal and Professional Development, Quality Assurance and Management. All units will be individually graded as ‘pass, ‘merit’ or ‘distinction’.
