The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering (Two Pathways) is a direct top-up from the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering (Two Pathways). A HND in Engineering (Two Pathways) is the ideal qualification for getting ahead in your engineering career. This course has been developed to successfully combine theoretical study and practical work to focus on the requirements of industry. You will learn the fundamentals of engineering and how to apply them effectively throughout your career. This qualification provides opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge and practical skills in the workplace. Full-time learners have the opportunity to do this through formal work placements or part-time employment experience. You'll learn from experts, and apply what you learn to your job if you're already in an engineering role. When you finish the course, you'll have new skills, knowledge and professional experience, backed up by a Higher National Diploma qualification that could help achieve your dream job, or progress further in your career. The course combines a variety of teaching approaches including lectures, assignment work, programming tasks and lab work. Assessment is by assignment work, which includes calculations, lab work, circuit/system simulations, programming, research and investigations. Modules

Students must complete the following eight units: Engineering Design, Electronic Principles, Microprocessor Systems, Combinational and Sequential Logic, Data Communications and Networks, Quality and Business Improvement, Personal and Professional Development, Quality Assurance and Management. All units will be individually graded as ‘pass, ‘merit’ or ‘distinction’.
