Course summary
Students on this course focus on knowledge and skills that can be applied within organisations rather than on how financial markets behave. This course is designed to develop existing knowledge and understanding of financial management and build on current research and analytical skills. It is an ideal course for those who have recently completed a 1st degree in accounting, or business administration, or those who have a related degree and substantial business experience.

Modules
Core modules: fundamentals of financial management ; financial context and contemporary issues ; corporate strategy ; corporate financial strategy ; performance measurement and management ; corporate financial reporting ; research methods ; masters dissertation.
Assessment method
Assessments will be a mix of written assignments, supervised mini-projects, role playing, presentations and examinations.

Entry requirements
Applicants need a good Honours degree in either accounting and finance (minimum 2.2), or business/related subject (minimum 2.1) with a significant accounting and finance content (normally at least 25 per cent of the degree) from a recognised higher education institution; or equivalent, from a recognised overseas institution; or to have successfully completed all of the fundamental papers of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) syllabus or the certificate and managerial levels of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) syllabus and have at least 2 years' relevant work experience. Applicants who have passed any of the ACCA professional level or CIMA strategic level papers may be eligible for exemption from 1 or more of the MSc modules. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in all components.
