Course summary

Artificial intelligence, the science of simulating human intelligence using computers, is one of the fastest growing fields of technological development. It involves studying the principles and mechanisms underlying intelligent human processes and attempting to apply this knowledge to the design of computer-based systems. Placing you at the heart of cutting-edge technology, this degree immerses you in artificial intelligence and the related aspects of computer science. You will acquire key skills and practical experience in the core disciplines of programming, mathematics, autonomous smart systems and data analytics. Developing and evaluating tools and techniques for real-world applications and solutions, you will be immersed in rapidly evolving computing and sensing technologies, such as robotics, and obtain the professional abilities needed to operate with confidence in a challenging multi-disciplinary environment.

Assessment method

You will be assessed through a combination of practical exercises, reports, essays, presentations and examinations. We want you to develop the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, therefore assessment includes both of these forms, though the emphasis is strongly on individual work.

If you have a minimum of two A Levels (or equivalent), there is no maximum number of qualifications that we will accept UCAS points from. This includes additional qualifications such as Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), AS Levels that haven’t been continued to A Level, and General Studies AS or A Level awards.
