Our Cyber Security program provides you with the knowledge and skills to secure and protect critical information systems to the high professional standards demanded by industry. Any organisation that has a computer network or uses the internet has a potential security risk and will need people with specialised skills to help protect their systems and data. This is where your skills are needed. The programme combines theory and practice. It covers cyber security as well as computing hardware and networking. You will study the different ways that computer software and hardware systems can be vulnerable to attack and gain practical skills in how to defeat malicious threats. This will form the basis for a career as a professional cyber security specialist who can work effectively to protect critical systems from being compromised by internal and external threats. In your first year, you'll gain an introduction to computing skills and computer security. You'll also gain technical skills - in both computer networks and computer systems - that you'll build on in the following year. You'll then develop technical skills in network security, penetration testing and ethical hacking as well as at analysing behaviour, and data and disaster recovery. This is also available as a part time programme.
The number of student respondents and response rates can be important in interpreting the data. For further information, see the Discover Uni website.
