Sociology is about exploring the building blocks of society. It’s the study of the connections that bind us together: families, organisations and social groups. The study of Criminology explores people’s motivations behind criminal behavior and modern methods for counteracting crime in society. Skills On our BA Criminology and Criminal Justice/Sociology course, our priority is ensuring that you graduate with a professional skillset. This incorporates; Criminology and Criminal Justice: • Ability to access and comprehend academic texts, understanding historical and social influences on criminal justice. • Proficiency in understanding crime dynamics, evaluating perspectives, and conducting critical analysis. • Utilising various materials for coherent written work, evaluating sources, and presenting findings effectively. • Analyse information, propose solutions, and understand the intersectionality of deviance and crime. Sociology: • Application of theoretical perspectives and research methods, understanding ethical considerations. • Recognising social diversity, institutions, and historical/cultural influences, fostering a sociological imagination. • Enhancing communication skills, self-awareness, and understanding of sociology's relevance in everyday life.
