University of Chichester has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
The University of Chichester Conservatoire is one of the largest and liveliest in the UK, with a community of over 400 student performers. The degree offers you an intense focus on developing your practical skills in Screen Acting. You will develop your own bespoke acting approach from an introduction to a broader range of acting practitioners such as Meisner, Strasberg and Adler alongside the technical acting skills necessary for a convincing, truthful camera performance. Working with leading screen and film professional actors, directors and producers offers an opportunity to position yourself with a very strong offer for future performance work. You will also develop a knowledge of other aspects of film and screen acting and its history, and an understanding of the film and television industry and how this contributes to and reflects contemporary culture. You’ll acquire a toolkit of vocational knowledge in work based modules designed to help you to extend your work beyond that of an actor, and to develop real understanding of the challenges of work in a professional environment.

Points of entry
The following entry points are available for this course:
- Year 1
Candidates will be required to demonstrate, in a performance audition, ability in dance, acting and singing. Applicants with high levels of performance skills may be considered for a lower academic offer.
Additional entry requirements
Prior to attending your interview, you should prepare one short monologue (between 1 and 1 ½ minutes long) which will be used in an intense camera workshop. You should have the speeches thoroughly learnt and be off the book. There will also be an unrehearsed aspect to the audition, where candidates will be given a page of duologue from a film script to read with the assessor.
English language requirements
The standard entry requirement for this programme is IELTS 6.0 with no element lower than 5.5. However, you can begin your 3-year degree programme with IELTS 5.5. Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject. If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
Further details of our international entry requirements can be found on our website.
The number of student respondents and response rates can be important in interpreting the data. For further information, see the Discover Uni website.
