Course summary

Research areas include: Criminal justice; legal theory and legal history; cultural diversity and law; immigration law; class actions; comparative law; competition law; corporate governance; criminal law; criminology; environmental law; equity, trusts and property law; European Union law; immigration, asylum and rights of ethnic minorities; international human rights; legal theory and legal history; medical law; public international law; public law.


Entry requirements

Applicants require a distinction on an LLM or equivalent qualification; in some circumstances the requirement is applied flexibly, for example if an applicant has performed to distinction level in a dissertation or has outstanding undergraduate qualification; in exceptional cases, vocational experience in the proposed area of research may compensate for the lack of a Master's degree, or a grade below that specified above; for example, working as a magistrate, judge, lawyer or expert for a considerable period of time, such as 5 years, in the proposed area of research may be taken into account; a relevant undergraduate degree in law or its relevant equivalent qualification is necessary in all cases; applicants whose 1st language is not English are required to provide proof of proficiency in English as part of the application process.
