Course summary

This degree explores the application of technology in business and industry. We will provide a grounding in computing, the construction and use of database systems, new technologies, systems administration, artificial intelligence and business information systems. You will understand the fundamentals underpinning computer information systems and will apply them to society and business. Through theory and hands-on practice, you will learn to leverage technology in a business setting, giving you the competitive edge. Crucially you will understand the drivers for the future trends in this fast-moving area. After graduating you will be equipped to manage and develop computational technology systems for a broad range of user’s needs. This course will also prepare you for the workplace by teaching a range of professional skills, including communication, teamwork, time-management and independent learning alongside an awareness of relevant legal, social and ethical issues. During your time at Bangor you will develop an understanding of the fundamentals underpinning computer information systems and their application in industry. Through theory and hands on practice you will learn to leverage technology in a business setting giving you the competitive edge. Crucially you will also understand the drivers for the future trends in this fast-moving area. ‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time.
