Delve into the specifics of law and order with this Bachelor of Laws LLB (Hons) with Foundation Year Degree. Designed to prepare you for progression on to the full Bachelor of Laws LLB programme, this course introduces you to the principles of law whilst strengthening your academic skills. Best of all, you will experience considerable support and expert teaching that prepares you for an exhilarating career in law. Suited to those who may not meet the entry requirements for the full LLB Hons degree, our foundation year consists of legal modules that help you enhance your confidence, knowledge and academic skills. You will gain an understanding of legal education in the United Kingdom by studying compulsory and optional modules - allowing you to choose your route and specialist area of study whilst gaining a qualifying law degree. Regardless of your chosen route, you will be assessed on the skills, attributes and competencies relevant to your chosen field of study. Available routes include: Route A: Practical Legal Studies Enhance your employability by developing practical skills required for the practice of law. This route provides you with a step up to various training programmes and qualifications, including the Solicitors Qualifying examination, the Legal Practice course, the CILEX Professional qualification and the Bar Practice Training course. Route B: Law and Criminal Studies This route of study is designed for those wanting an alternative career outside of the traditional legal qualification routes, including civil service, policing and the probation service. You will further your knowledge and understanding of victimology; working with vulnerable people; policing and social control; the psychology of crime; and working with offending behaviour.

Assessment method
Assessment methods will vary according to the needs of the different modules and the level at which they are being taught. Assessment methods include examinations (seen and unseen, open and closed book), class based assessments, coursework, project, academic discussions and presentations. A wide variety of assessment methods will suit a number of different learning styles and the focus will be on progression and development of all learners. Formative assessment, with high quality and prompt feedback, is integral to the modules and there will be a number of opportunities for formative assessment and feedback and feedforward in all law modules, examples include scenario questions, timed questions, discussion boards, presentations and mock examinations. The assessments are weighted according to the level and module. Each module has a different assessment method, these methods include: Written assignments of varying word length Group presentations Extended research project Reflective statements Group discussions Case studies Professional discussions An academic moot The varied approach ensures the appropriate assessment of both knowledge and understanding and the skills elements of the programme. The assessment methods also helped to prepare you for the assessment strategy on level 4, 5 and 6 of the LLB (Hons). There is also a compulsory 40 credit dissertation module at Level 6 and the other modules available allow for some element of choice. Modules can be chosen which will allow for the completion of the Chartered Institute of Legal executives Graduate Fast Track Diploma, these modules will also be assessed in programme. The additional Chartered Institute of Legal Executives assessments will not affect the assessment and consequent grading of the degree.

English language requirements
English Language Grade C or above (grade 4 for those sitting their GCSE from 2017 onwards). Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy are accepted in place of GCSEs. IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any component.
