Course summary

Begin a dynamic route to a high-flying career by joining our top ranked, professionally accredited course. Delivered by a team committed to making your career aspirations and professional objectives a reality in today’s global economy. Your transformation from student to professional accounting graduate begins here. You will develop professional, in demand, Accounting and Finance skills through practical application and real business experiences. You will secure major exemptions from the examinations of the key professional accounting bodies as you progress (ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA). This ensures that once you have graduated it will take you less time to become qualified as an accountant. Student membership of CIMA is provided and all students can undertake a standalone CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting at the end of first year. This is an opportunity to be awarded a professional qualification before even leaving university. Graduates are also eligible to become a member of AAT once they have acquired the relevant experience. You will have the opportunity to undertake a one year professional placement at the end of your second year. The placement aims to develop business skills and knowledge by the application of the theoretical to practical contexts.

Modules

In Year 1, modules are all core to the course to reflect the requirements of exemptions from the professional accounting bodies. The modules in Year 2 aim to develop your knowledge of related management areas, and enhance your skills development through a case study module. You will have the chance to undertake a year-long placement which really brings your course to life and can help enhance your graduate employment prospects. In your final year, you will study financial accounting, management accounting and management. A case study module will aim to develop your technical and employability skills.

Assessment method

A formal three hour examination forms the major part of assessment. However other forms of assessment are also used in each module, including: coursework, reports, group projects, live case studies, presentations and practical in-session IT competency tests.
